I lack the motivation to exercise on my own
Our suggestion here is to seek out a friend to exercise with. This can be a friend, family member or work colleague. Make a pledge to exercise with them on a regular basis. This is often a win-win situation for you both as they probably need some incentive to get more regular activity into their lives as well.
