Research plays an important role in improving how arthritis is understood, treated, and supported — but good research doesn’t happen without people living with arthritis sharing their experiences.
Have you ever wished health professionals better understood what it’s really like to live with arthritis? Or wanted services, treatments, workplaces, or healthcare systems to work better for people like you?
Participating in research is one way to help create change.
Research studies are not always about medications or clinical trials. Many studies explore the real-life challenges people face — such as pain, fatigue, work, access to care, self-management, and quality of life. Some involve surveys, interviews, focus groups, or sharing your lived experience.
At Arthritis NZ, we support researchers looking to engage with consumers and provide opportunities for our community to take part in research projects happening across Aotearoa New Zealand. These studies help build the evidence needed to improve care, services, advocacy, and support for people affected by arthritis.
Current opportunities include studies exploring arthritis and work, osteoarthritis, gout, inflammatory arthritis, and helping co-design future models of arthritis care.
You don’t need to be a research expert — your lived experience is valuable expertise.
