Volunteer recognition

Part of our volunteer recognition programme is presenting Community Service Awards to our long-serving volunteers.

Last updated: 30 September 2025

At Arthritis NZ, we are proud to honour the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and heart to support our work. Our Community Service Awards recognise volunteers who have made a significant and lasting impact in their communities through ongoing support, advocacy, fundraising, or leadership. These recipients exemplify what it means to live our values and strengthen our mission.

These awards are our way of saying thank you to the people who turn up, speak out, and stand alongside others living with arthritis. Their dedication helps shape a stronger, more connected Aotearoa.

Community Service Awards - Whangārei Support Group

Community Service Awards were presented to four long-standing members who have been instrumental in the group’s success and the wider journey of Arthritis NZ. Thelma Moffitt, Val and Steve Compton, and Els Dutton have each made lasting contributions through their time, energy, and commitment to supporting others. It was a privilege to acknowledge their mahi and celebrate their stories with the group.
