Arthritis NZ was invited to participate in one of Christchurch City Council's Wellness Wednesday sessions for their employees. These sessions promote health and well-being by providing staff with access to different health-related services over the 8-week period.
This was an exciting opportunity for us to promote awareness within a workplace setting. We were also able to share our new brand and beautiful Tohu, our website and our resources. Throughout the day, a steady flow of people visited to learn more about who we are and the services we offer.
Some great conversations involved looking at preventive measures. What can you do now to help support joint health and maybe delay the development of arthritis, such as osteoarthritis, in the future? Questions were asked around nutrition, exercise, sleep, mental well-being, perimenopause, joint pain, and what people can do in their workplace to help support their bodies when working at a desk all day.
Taking part in Christchurch City Council’s Wellness Wednesday series was a valuable opportunity to connect with people in the workplace and highlight the importance of joint health. By sharing practical tips, resources, and our free Arthritis Assist services, we encouraged conversations around prevention, wellbeing, and daily strategies to support healthier lives. The positive response reinforces the impact of raising awareness in community and workplace settings, helping more people understand that support is available – and that small changes now can make a big difference for the future.
“Wow, and this is all free?”
