Lupus/SLE Postdoctoral Fellowship
Arthritis NZ Lupus/SLE Postdoctoral Fellowship 2024
Arthritis NZ is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to enable a better quality of life for people affected by arthritis. Arthritis NZ works in the areas of education, public awareness, direct support, advocacy, and research.
Established in 2021, our Lupus/SLE Postdoctoral Fellowship’s purpose is to provide significant financial support to emerging researchers in New Zealand to undertake Lupus/SLE research which has the potential to advance knowledge and address important knowledge gaps in the Lupus/SLE research field. Ultimately, the findings from this research will be used to help inform the support of people living with Lupus/SLE within New Zealand. Funding for this opportunity was made available through an extremely generous bequest by the late Dorothy Ashbolt.
Arthritis NZ will award one Fellowship in the 2024 round worth up to $300,000. The successful applicant must subsequently undertake their project over either a two or three-year period.
Like our annual research grant funding round, this opportunity is also comprised of a two-stage process. For the first stage, we will be accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Thursday 16 May to Wednesday 7 August 2024. EOI will be subsequently reviewed by our Research Committee and those who are invited to progress to stage two will subsequently need to complete a full application form, and this will be due by 5 pm on Friday 18 October 2024.
Research projects must be clearly related to Lupus/SLE with the precise topic to be determined by applicants, but could include for instance:
- Health service provision for people with Lupus/SLE.
- Lupus/SLE in groups such as children, youth, Māori, Pasifika, etc.
- Projects that relate to finding the potential causes and a cure for Lupus/SLE.
- The epidemiology of Lupus/SLE.
For your EOI, please download copies of the 2024 advertisement, the 2024 EOI Form and the Information and Conditions Form below. We have also made the full application template available here as well so applicants who are invited to proceed to the second stage have an opportunity to plan their full application well in advance. We have also made the Lupus/SLE Postdoctoral Fellowship reporting template available here as well so applicants can see what type of reporting is expected once their research project has been completed.
EOI due date: Wednesday 7 August 2024
