Andrew Nicholson broke his hand in 2011 and he wasn’t necessarily surprised that arthritis came to visit. Arthritis often invades the sites of joint injuries. However Andrew is determined not to let arthritis slow him down, or shorten the career he loves.

“It’s the exhilaration you get from winning that make me put in the hours of training horses”, said Andrew. “I am happy to support Arthritis New Zealand in their important work.  I hope that my experiences of keeping up my exercise and managing pain can help others”

Arthritis New Zealand Chief Executive Sandra Kirby said the organisation is delighted to have Andrew join the ranks of Arthritis Ambassadors who are all prepared to tell their personal stories to raise awareness of this chronic health condition that affects at least 578,000 New Zealanders.

“Arthritis comes in many forms,” she said. “Many will, like Andrew, have arthritis in their hands and will be confronted with the challenges of not having the dexterity needed to complete day to day tasks.”

“Further information about arthritis, phone us toll free on 8000 663 463, or visit our website: www.arthritis.org.nz,” Ms Kirby concluded.
