Attn: Arthritis New Zealand members

As members of Arthritis New Zealand one of our rights, and responsibilities, is the ability to nominate and vote for members of the Governing Body. I am fortunate that our current Governing Body is of a very high calibre– and that is thanks to the skilled people who put themselves forward for this task.

Governance of an organisation like ours can be a demanding task. We come from a variety of backgrounds and with particular interests in the work of the organisation.Once we get to the Board table our role is to put aside personal points of view and work for the collective good.

One of the advantages of our now 51 years of existence is that our systems and processes are well developed and tested – so there are Job Descriptions for these volunteer roles; documented expectations and review procedures. Anyone considering their name being put forward is encouraged to call me or any other member of the Governing Body to talk through the role and associated responsibilities. It is an interesting role and although challenging brings great satisfaction to those who take it on.

The Arthritis New Zealand 2017 elections are approaching and all current members have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the positions of:
