Arthritis New Zealand and Physiotherapy New Zealand have combined their expertise to produce a new exercise guide titled Arthritis – Exercises to Keep You Moving.
The new guide provides step-by-step, illustrated instructions for exercises that will greatly benefit people with arthritis or a rheumatology condition which is affecting their joints or muscles.
Arthritis New Zealand Chief Executive Sandra Kirby says for people living with arthritis even everyday tasks can present a challenge, and the thought of starting an exercise regime can be overwhelming.
“When you live with arthritis, it can be easy to get discouraged, particularly if your arthritis is severe. However studies show that regular and appropriate physical activity help improve pain tolerance, mood and quality of life for people with arthritis. This guide provides easy-to-understand advice on how to manage an arthritis flare-up, when to exercise and also very importantly, when not to exercise.”
If you are a member of Arthritis New Zealand you can purchase this book for $5. Please contact Elena on 0800 663 463 to order your copy.
