This article is written by one of our lovely volunteers in Whangarei/Kaipara Districts Service Centre, as you can see we try and make volunteering with us a fun experience!

Come and volunteer with us! How often do we all hear these words and wonder which organisation should we volunteer for or even if we should volunteer at all?

I am a volunteer for Arthritis New Zealand I would like to share with you why.

I was looking for an organisation where the donations collected stayed right here in Northland. Arthritis New Zealand donations collected in the North, stay in the North.

An organisation in which I didn’t have to be a member of a committee, could give my time willingly when it suited me. Arthritis New Zealand certainly fulfils this requirement.

I wanted to have loads of fun, lots of laughter, meet really great and caring people, have a good time, and be ‘myself’. Help and meet all sorts of people. Yes, Arthritis New Zealand certainly meets this requirement.

As an arthritis volunteer, I suffer from lots of fun and laughter. I don’t have to explain myself to anyone else as everyone understands. I can give an hour or two or more if I am able. I am always treated with respect, humour and consideration. There is always a chair provided [very important]. Advice is freely given. Humour freely spent.

So if you would like to join me and suffer from fun, laughter, meet some really wonderful, extraordinary people give us a call on 09 438 5037. Leave you name, number and brief message and myself or one of the extraordinary volunteers from Arthritis New Zealand will be only to happy to speak to you.
