Welcome to the Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) website. We hope you are able to obtain information to support you if you have been diagnosed or believe you may have the symptoms.
AS mainly affects the spine, causing ongoing inflammation of soft tissues around the spinal bones (vertebrae). Over time, the process of spinal inflammation can lead to fusion of part of the spine and sometimes the pelvis, which can cause loss of movement of the spine. Symptoms usually develop between the ages of 15–35, rarely older than 40 years and men are generally more severely affected than women (the reason for this is unknown).
Please explore the website, which we hope will provide you with advice and support.
